Hello, my name is Claire Crompton and I am organising the GFAC flock. I am a knitwear designer, writing knitting books and patterns. While studying for an MA in Entrepreneurship for Creative Practice at Plymouth College of Art, part of my research was around sustainable textiles, especially locally sourced wool. This is why I started this project. ‘Give Fleece A Chance’ was a collaborative knitting project to create a flock of sheep using wool sourced from the South West of England. The main aim was to connect wool producers to wool users but I also want to connect the community of wool users together: knitters, spinners, felt makers, weavers, dyers.
‘Give Fleece A Chance’ has now finished.
